Day 26

Devlog:

So hello... Now for today, I didn't do much with programming. More of figuring out why my game still isn't that strategic. I mean it sort of is but it still doesn't feel right. Like spamming defend and attack. It's not that fun. That is why I am scrapping it. No, I am not leaving this project. All I am going to do is recode a lot of stuff. I am going to reprogram so already familiar systems and change them to something more fun. If you are also scared my main idea will go away, no worries. I am going to keep most of the structures in place and just going to switch some moves around. At least all my work won't go to waste. Now since I did a lot of brainstorming today and I can't implement it, I am going to be placing down my notes below if you want to check out some changes. If you don't understand what these mean, under player shows moves you will most likely do if the opponent has that certain status. Bat shows underneath what moves it will pick depending on what certain status it is in.  Underneath moves shows what each move does.

Notes:

Player:

  • Offensive on Liam: Reflect for Liam, Growl and Calm
  • Offensive on Doggo: Growl, Reflect for Doggo
  • Defensive: Reflect (Any Type) and Calm

Bat:

  • Offensive on Liam: Chase Liam
  • Offensive on Doggo: Swoop
  • Defensive: Dodge
  • Weakness/Way of Manipulation: Distract (Offensive on Liam to Offensive on Doggo) by Biting or Growling, Scare (Any Status to Defensive around 3 turns) by Reflecting (Any Type)

Moves:

  • Growl and Dodge damages your opponent by a random amount of HP but sacrifices Liam's NRG and allows doggo to avoid all attacks
  • Calm allows Liam to regain a random amount of NRG
  • Reflect redirects the attack of your chosen ally (Liam, Doggo) only if the attack is reflectable signified by checking
  • Check allows Liam to tell you what strategy the opponent is going to do (Offensive on Liam or Doggo or Defensive)
  • Chase Liam drains a random amount of his NRG
  • Swoop damages the doggo by a random amount of HP
  • Dodge allows the bat to avoid all attacks

Continuation of Devlog:

Ok... Hopefully I thought this through. I mean I will be making backups but I just wish this won't be useless. Now if your doubting the narrative of scare now that growl doesn't anymore trigger it, again no worries because I will be explaining it. Simple as this, bats are afraid of light (maybe?) and the collar that gives him the ability to reflect also reflects light at the bat (bat is underneath cave and you are outside the cave). Problem solved. Therefore, 'til then. Buh-bye.
